Freelance Translator
Translated 300K words from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (former INS) web site into Spanish. Provided translation and proofreading services for several translation agencies including ACT, Global Arena, Iverson Language Associates, Inc., SH3, McNeil Multilingual, CTS, RWS, MasterWord, GLS, LLE, Choice Translating, Luz, ILS, Avantext, One World Language Solutions, Enlaso, Lexicomm, Wordnet, Peritus Translations and SL International. Five months residence in Spain, four months in Mexico, three in Argentina. Translated and edited an average of 500,000 words per year. See selected projects below.

In-house English > Spanish Translator
Bechtel International Corp., San Francisco, CA, USA.
In-house translator for the Cantarell Project. Translated and edited over one million words in several technical specialties (process, mechanical, structural, chemical, electrical and environmental engineering; construction; DCS and radio systems; pipelines; telecommunications; software documentation) and related commercial, financial and legal documentation. Responsible for the development and maintenance of a project glossary for use by the Bechtel/Pemex offices in San Francisco, Houston, Mexico, London and Singapore. Glossary includes thousands of records and was completed in consultation with a team of over 60 Mexican (Pemex) and American (Bechtel) engineers.

Engineer
Electroi, Colombia.
Wrote company bid proposals (in English). Translated manuals on the design and implementation of power transmission lines. Served as liaison between Rocas Ltd. (a civil engineering company) and Amoco Corporation in the oil fields of the State of Arauca, eastern plains of Colombia.

Responsible for the development of audiotapes and written/multimedia material for the teaching of Spanish. Translated English and French documents into Spanish.
